It's Been Awhile...
Well, it’s been a while since I last posted on this. Life got relatively busy in the past year.  I started this tumblog just to keep track of various socially conscious businesses and how they are improving the world in a way traditional charities and non-profits have fallen short.  Since I began this tumblog, I’ve started a few new businesses just to keep me busy.  Granted, neither of...

Nice film about various people who were laid off during this economic crisis and what they did to turn their situations around and find meaning in their lives.  Thought it would be inspirational to some of you guys out there.

Vanish: Wired Writer Evan Ratliff Sees if You Can... →
Fascinating piece about something many of us think about in our life.  Evan Ratliff writes about his experiences of disappearing and starting over with a new identity.  It also highlights the effectiveness of social networking and harnessing the power of individuals towards a goal.  We have such a far reaching and explosive amount of power now, more than any time in history.  Really makes you...

A third way to think about aid Yes, I know another video.  Hopefully some of you are checking them out, enjoy. “The debate over foreign aid often pits those who mistrust “charity” against those who mistrust reliance on the markets. Jacqueline Novogratz proposes a middle way she calls patient capital, with promising examples of entrepreneurial innovation driving social...

And Why The Market Is An Inexact Science. Now, I know this title seems strange but as a reference point, if you don’t know where I am coming from check this out. We hear so many times that the market can almost be described as a science.  But, the reality is that it cannot.  The market is an amalgamation of certain hard numbers as well as personal interpretations of the data. ...

Interesting View on Customers...
Got this from Seth Godin’s Blog. Check him out if you want to view business a little differently.  He’s like the Malcolm Gladwell of the internet. “Choose your customers, choose your future Marketers rarely think about choosing customers… like a sailor on shore leave, we’re not so picky. Huge mistake. Your customers define what you make, how you make it, where you...

The Wild Wild World of Making an Income From the...
Don’t let the title scare you away.  I know there are a lot of people out there who are trying to get some sort of business going in this recession.  If you think it’s an easy way to make a quick buck, you’d be wrong. Don’t think its all sunshine and rainbows.  Like any other business, you have to put the work in to get anything out of it. Remember, when you are going...

Jobless Claims Hit 480,000
Initial jobless claims rose to 480,000 after a drop from the previous weeks.  Although it is down 5,250 over four weeks.  But total claims rose to 5.186 Million from 5.18 Million.  Seems we’re still in for some tough times ladies and gentlemen.  Although we are in a steep recession that shouldn’t hinder you from starting your own business.  Remember, Microsoft was started in a...

Don’t you hate it when you wake up incredibly early and you don’t have to be at work till 9?  I woke up at 5:15 today.  What makes it worse is that it’s the winter time so daybreak is just starting to come.  It’s quarter of seven here. I guess it has some value in it though.  I’ve been a little more productive after getting through that, “waking up”...

Our Buggy Moral Code I know I’m going a little TED crazy for some of you but I hopefully you don’t mind.  This talk by Dan Ariely discusses how and why we cheat and steal and how we’re influenced by more than we think.  Fascinating talk that makes you think about those around you and gives you some things to think about.  Enjoy.

Seth Godin: The Tribes We Lead Just watched this video from ted.com featuring Seth Godin.  Love him or hate him, he knows where the internet is going and how it can be used for both business and social function.  Either expanding profit or extending reach to help those in need.  His focus is on how we are coming back to a more tribal centric existence.  Because of this, we all have within our...

Hello and welcome to my new blog about social entrepreneurship.  I thought I would take the time to give a little intro about why I started this in the first place and where I hope to take this blog in the future.  So, moving along… I began this blog for a number of reasons, but the primary purpose is to give people a little insight into a new era of “Creative Capitalism” as...
